Karine Bartoli

Karine Bartoli’s pictorial models are photographs that she takes in her daily life. Light and movement are described in a radical way, dramatizing and sacralizing an apparently banal reality. It is an art that is not committed, simply observer but with a stance; that of representing an experience. Showing people in a territory, in a landscape, is a way of saying “I live, I feel, I leave a trace”. Figuration creates the link between the inside and the outside, feeling and reality. The artist captures the poetic moments of ordinary existence. There is sunshine, heat, and who knows how much refreshing in the air, in her paintings. It’s like this , it’s the Mediterranean. It is the impression of a familiar moment, of a piece of our very existence. The color white is everywhere White is the light that corrodes the details that the eye does not seek. In the photos above it is the sun that is mentioned: the sun in its benefits and in its essence is a symbol so profound that myths have left us as a legacy. The touch is imbued with a frank freedom of expression and the medium does not disappear behind the motif. Karine Bartoli’s paintings are in line with the work of Fairfeld Porter and Joaquin Sorolla, who were distinguished by the freedom with which they translated light and color into their paintings.
